Spartacus IPA

Spartacus IPA is hopped entirely with Centennial hops making it a simple, yet bold beer with citrus and pine notes.

Spartacus is perhaps the most famous gladiator of all time. He was a Thracian who served in the Roman army but was ultimately sold into slavery where he began gladiatorial training in Capua. He would eventually escape Capua along with 70+ other gladiators and eventually lead an army of 90,000 before dying in battle.

Oenamaus Porter

Oenamaus Porter is a classic porter with minimal amounts of hops to let the malt flavors really shine. Willamette hops and a pinch of Simcoe give a nice earthy flavor and aroma.

Oenamaus was a Gallic gladiator and was among the slaves that escaped the training school in Capua. He became a general in Spartacus' army and fought in one of the most successful battles the army would ever have when they defeated the praetor, Gaius Claudius Glaber.

Attilius.png
Attilius Lager

Marcus Attilius was a free born Roman soldier who fought voluntarily as a gladiator to free himself from debt. He had a number of impressive victories in the arena, including the defeat of a veteran champion named Hilarus who had earned at least 13 victories before falling to Attlius.

Atillius Lager is similar to Marcus himself in the fact that it may not have the same bold hops as some of the other beers out there, but it can still  hold its own. Green Bullet hops give this beer all the flavor a lager needs.

9th Legion.png
The Ninth Legion Wee Heavy

The Ninth Legion is one of the most mysterious outfits in military history. The unknown fate of the legion has been the subject of considerable research and speculation. It is said that the legion was wiped out in action in what is modern day Scotland soon after 108 AD.

This beer uses a variety of malts giving it lots of bold smokey flavor on top of a sweet, rich malty base.

Commodus.png
Commodus Oatmeal Stout

Commodus was a Roman emperor who was known to take part in gladiatorial combat quite regularly. Commodus's opponents always submitted to the emperor; as a result he never lost. Commodus never killed his gladiatorial adversaries, instead accepting their surrenders. His victories were often welcomed by his bested opponents, as bearing scars dealt by the hand of an Emperor was considered a mark of fortitude. For each appearance in the arena, he charged the city of Rome a million sesterces, straining the Roman economy.

This stout has loads of dark chocolate flavor with hints of coffee and caramel on the back end. Surrender to its deliciousness.

Schwarzbier.png
To The Death?

Contrary to popular belief, not all gladiatorial combat ended in death. In fact estimates suggest that around 4 out of every 5 (80-85%) defeated gladiators would have lived.

Like this belief that gladiators fought only to the death, many people believe that a lager can only be a very pale color. In fact there are many styles of lager from ranging from those light in color, to the schwarzbier that is as black as some stouts.

This beer has the strong malty flavour, light body and easy drinking feel of a lager, with notes of chocolate and coffee to create a unique drinking experience.

Unfortunately for anyone that entered the arena who wasn't a gladiator and who wasn't there to entertain the crowd and earn a profit for their lanista, there was little chance that they would be leaving alive.
